I have been using youmail for about a month now and I just got the funniest recording... I hardly check my messages on the phone, but I recently checked and the recording said "You have ALOT of new messages" instead of "You have 75 new messages"

Yes, well this is what i originally came up with but it becomes a
problem with a transparent png. Since it's an animated background it
becomes too distracting...

Why not use the tiled image as the background on the inline image.

img{background-image:url(/tile.gif); background-repeat:repeat} Then the inline image will load in over the top or have I misinterperated the question?

Just checked out youmail... it has speech to txt also. Its hidden under the My Account area and is a Beta program. Just signed up today, so lets see how it goes. I have already had alot of fun with the customized per caller greeting messages.

I guess you don't understand what CallWave is doing. Fundamentally, CallWave and YouMail operate the same way. You set up your catchall forward number to be the replacement voicemail's service.

For example, CallWave activation for GSM phones:

*004*17756651234*11#

And YouMail activation for GSM phones:

*004*17142043114#

A quick google of "*004* GSM codes" gives you:

Which identifies that command as "all conditionals forward". The *11 on the CallWave command only serves to redirect only voice calls instead of all calls. For most service this makes no difference at all, as most people don't have separate fax/data/line2/voice calls set up for their phone.

Ultimately the carrier's voicemail is the same setup as well, it's just the *004* forward defaults to their voicemail service if not set to something different. What changes is your phone company likely doesn't bill you for forwards to THEIR voicemail, but does to CallWave or YouMail's.

I'll actually end up buying the monthly plan but I did check out youmail.I
just don't like the fact that it forwards your calls to another number that
takes the message...

Anyway, I ended up trying http://www.youmail.com, which I've been happy with so far.
